Atelier Free Flow is the most fluid and vivid acrylic on the market. Use it as a stand alone paint or incorporate Atelier Interactive into your painting for more contrast and texture.
Regardless of your application or technique, you’ll find it glides from the brush with very little dilution required to reach your preferred consistency. For an artist, this ensures brilliant pigment strength is retained, painting light over dark colours is far easier, and the integrity of the paint itself remains strong and durable.
- Maximum pigment load and excellent lightfastness
- Amazing fluid consistency that just keeps flowing!
Unlike traditional acrylics, all 75 of these “interactive” colors do not suddenly form a skin. Interactive changes the painting process, giving you plenty of time to blend and rework and giving you more creative freedom.
The patent-pending formulation allows even touch-dry paint to be reworked or ragged-off to blend or reveal layers. Archival quality and lightfast, the intense colors dry to a satin-like finish without a plastic look or feel and minimal color shift.
Fluid Acrylics are highly intense, permanent acrylic colors with a consistency similar to heavy cream. Produced from lightfast pigments, not dyes, they offer very strong colors with very thin consistencies. No fillers or extenders are added and the pigment load is comparable to GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics.
Unlike mixtures of heavy-bodied paints and water which produce weak color and films by dilution, Fluid Acrylics contain high pigment levels suspended in an acrylic polymer vehicle. The result offers fine dispersion, high tinting strength, durability, flexibility and good adhesion.
GOLDEN Iridescent Acrylics are one of the most unique products available to artists today. They offer highly reflective metallic variations when mixed with GOLDEN colors. The GOLDEN Iridescent colors achieve their reflective properties by synthetically reproducing several natural phenomena - the nacreous, or pearlescent, qualities found in fish scales or the dust of a butterfly's wing, and the shiny and reflective qualities found in certain metals and minerals.
"Coarse" Iridescent colors are simply larger particle size versions of our "Fine" Iridescent products. Coarse colors in the Iridescent line include Copper, Copper Light, Gold and Pearl.
Fluorescent Acrylics Colors are intense, brilliant colors, produced from dyes surrounded by a polymer coating. Because fluorescent colors are so transparent, greater intensity can be achieved by working over a bright white surface.
Fluorescent Colors are not lightfast.
If a greater permanency is desired, a topcoat of GOLDEN MSA Varnish with UVLS (UltraViolet Light Stabilizers) is recommended, although it will eliminate the fluorescent "glow" under black light.
GOLDEN Gel Mediums offer artists many ways to build texture. They range in consistency from pourable to moldable with varying degrees of sheen and transparency. They can be used to create glazes, extend paints and change finishes. Some gels incorporate pumice, glass or acrylic granules that impart unique reflective, rough or absorbent surface qualities.
Gels can be thought of as colorless paint, as they are composed of 100% acrylic polymers similar to acrylic paint. They can also act as adhesives in collage and mixed media that dry to form continuous films with excellent flexibility with chemical, water and UV resistance.

GOLDEN Historical Colors are authentic recreations of paint colors that have been in use for hundreds of years and were considered essential to the working palettes of past masters. As the pigments originally used to produce these colors were found to be unsafe or vulnerable to the effects of light and weather, they had not been offered in a GOLDEN line of pure pigment colors.
Recognizing the popularity of these colors within some palettes, GOLDEN has recreated these in a safe, reliable form, meeting the conservation requirements of fine artists. Great pains were taken to ensure the GOLDEN Historical Colors shared the working properties of their predecessors.
Mediums and Additives
GOLDEN Mediums offer artists infinite control of changing acrylic colors. Use Mediums to control transparency, viscosity and surface sheen. Mediums can be thought of as colorless paints, as they are composed of similar polymers as are the acrylic paints. They are the "glue" or binder that dry to form continuous, durable films. They are made of 100% acrylic polymers, which have proven to have excellent flexibility and chemical, water and ultraviolet radiation resistance.

GOLDEN Pastes are tools that artists can use to achieve a variety of effects and expressions. Pastes used in conjunction with acrylic colors broaden working properties and expand creative possibilities.
Pastes differ from most gels in that they are opaque and may contain Marble Dust, Diatomaceous Earth, fibers, clays or other fillers resulting in a white or clay-tone finish with a variety of textures and properties. Pastes can also be used to create textured foundations for painting.
Extra Heavy/Molding Paste – A blend of Extra Heavy Gel Gloss and Molding Paste. Dries to a satin, semi-opaque finish. Excellent for increasing viscosity and building surfaces
Polymer Varnish - with (UltraViolet Light Stabilizers) is a waterborne acrylic polymer varnish that dries to a protective, flexible, dust resistant surface over acrylic paint. Removable with ammonia. Available in Gloss, Satin and Matte
