Pewter is a soft metal and due to its low melting point (approximately 230 degrees centigrade) it is suitable for casting. It is popular for small sculptures, candlesticks and even jewellery.
Pewter can be purchased as ingots and is a very exciting activity for middle and senior school students.
Available in 3 kilo ingots.
Pewter can be tipped into carved clean plaster for easy moulding.
Lost wax-casting is another process by which pewter is cast from a students original wax sculpture made from modelling wax.
Casting Pewter is 92% tin and 8% antimony.
